It is situated on the river Sieg, approx. {{convert|7|km|0|abbr=off}} south-east of Siegburg and {{convert|15|km|0|abbr=on}} east of Bonn. Hennef is the fourth-biggest town in the Rhein-Sieg-Kreis (i.e. district).[1] It is the site of the 15th-century castle, Schloss Allner, next to the Allner See. Twin townsHennef is twinned with:[2]
