Henry Melvill Gwatkin (30 July 1844 – 14 November 1916) was an English theologian and church historian. He was born at Barrow-on-Soar, Leicestershire. He was educated at Shrewsbury and St. John's College, Cambridge.[1] He became Dixie Professor of Ecclesiastical History of the University of Cambridge in 1891, retiring in 1912. He is buried in the Parish of the Ascension Burial Ground in Cambridge.,[2] with his wife Lucy De Lisle Gwatkin.
