It is found in Laos and Vietnam. It is virtually unknown and was feared extinct, until the discovery of a skull from a recently killed individual in the Annamite Range, Laos, in 1995.[2] Recent evidence has suggested that the Heude's pig may be identical to (and consequently a synonym of) wild boars from Indochina east of the Mekong.[1] References1. ^1 {{IUCN2008|assessor=Groves, C.P.P.|assessor2=Oliver, W.|last-assessor-amp=yes|year=2008|id=21178|title=Sus bucculentus|downloaded=5 April 2009}} Database entry includes a brief justification of why this species is of data deficient. 2. ^Groves, C.
