It is a gritstone tor overlooking the Burbage Valley and the iron age hill fort of Carl Wark[1] to the southeast. The tor stands to the south west of Sheffield, just within the city boundary, about {{convert|200|m|yards}} east of the border with Derbyshire, which runs along the nearby road to Ringinglow. The village of Hathersage is approximately {{convert|2|km}} to the west. A scene from the 1987 film The Princess Bride was filmed nearby at Carl Wark with Higger Tor visible in the background.[2] References1. ^{{cite news|url=http://www.peakdistrictinformation.com/visits/carlwark.php |title=Carl Wark Iron Age fort near Hathersage, Derbyshire |accessdate=4 October 2013}} {{Peaks of the Peak District}}{{SouthYorkshire-geo-stub}}{{UK-geology-stub}}2. ^{{cite web |url= http://insidemovies.ew.com/2013/08/16/princess-bride-live-commentary-reiner-reitman-academy/10/ |title='The Princess Bride': 10 INCONCEIVABLE facts from the Academy's live-commentary screening |accessdate=4 October 2013 |publisher=Entertainment Weekly |archivedate=1 September 2014 |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20140901033824/http://insidemovies.ew.com/2013/08/16/princess-bride-live-commentary-reiner-reitman-academy/10/}} 4 : Peak District|Hills and edges of South Yorkshire|Mountains and hills of the Peak District|Rock formations of England |
