词条 | Hugh of Vaucemain |
释义 |
His time as Master-General was marked by a conflict with Pope Benedict XII. Benedict, a Cistercian, was attempting a reform of the monastic orders. Hugh's position as the head of a mendicant order was apparently not against the reform as such, but derived from the feeling that the mendicants' position would then be threatened.[3] The Order numbered around 12,000 at this time, according to a census of 1337.[4] This was a decade before the Black Death, which caused a general fall in population. {{S-start}}{{succession box|title=Master General of the Dominican Order|before=Barnaba Cagnoli|after=Gerard de Daumar|years=1333–1341}}{{S-end}} References1. ^Hugh or Hugues de Vaucemain. {{france-reli-bio-stub}}2. ^{{cite web |url=http://www.dominicos.org/op/maestros.htm |title=Archived copy |accessdate=2007-10-02 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20071101080414/http://www.dominicos.org/op/maestros.htm |archivedate=2007-11-01 |df= }}, Spanish language. 3. ^Ashley/Dominicans: 3 Mystics 1300s {{webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20080725064028/http://www.domcentral.org/study/ashley/dominicans/ashdom03.htm |date=2008-07-25 }} 4. ^CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Order of Preachers 4 : French Dominicans|1341 deaths|Year of birth unknown|Masters of the Order of Preachers |
