The species was originally found in Phu Luang Wildlife Sanctuary, Loei Province, and has later been confirmed in the neighboring Phu Kradueng National Park as well. It is found in swift brooks in altitudes above 1000 m. It can reach a size of 60-80 millimeters, with females being about 10mm larger than the males.
