It is endemic to the Cordillera Central, Colombia, and is known from the Antioquia, Caldas, Quindío, and Tolima Departments.[[3]]Its natural habitats are sub-páramos and páramos at elevations of {{convert|2690|–|3350|m|abbr=on}} above sea level.[1][3] It occurs on fallen leaves and grass roots. It is a rare species, although its cryptic habits might contribute to this impression. It is threatened by habitat loss (deforestation).[1] References1. ^1 2 IUCN SSC Amphibian Specialist Group. 2017. Hypodactylus latens.
