Construction began in 1926 and was completed in 1930.[2] The dam is 32 m high and has a crest length of 158 m. It is supported by six arched buttresses.[3] Some renovation work has been needed to control leakage; special care has been taken due to its status as a cultural asset.[3] The dam has been designated an Important Cultural Property by the Japanese Ministry of Culture.[2] References{{commons category|Hōnen'ike Dam}}1. ^http://damnet.or.jp/cgi-bin/binranA/enAll.cgi?db4=2156 {{coord|34|02|31|N|133|41|05|E|region:JP_source:jawiki|display=title}}{{Dams in Kagawa Prefecture}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Honenike Dam}}{{Japan-dam-stub}}2. ^1 Agency for Cultural Affairs (in Japanese) 3. ^1 Current Activities on Construction and Management of Dams in Japan by Tadahiko Sakamoto 4 : Dams completed in 1930|Buttress dams|Dams in Kagawa Prefecture|Important Cultural Properties of Japan |
