{{Use dmy dates|date=April 2012}}Sir James Ian Keith of Urie, 12th Earl of Kintore, 12th Lord Keith of Inverurie and Keith Hall, Chief of Clan Keith since 1974 (25 July 1908 – 1 October 1989), known as Sir James Ian Baird of Urie, 2nd Viscount Stonehaven, 2nd Baron Stonehaven, 3rd Baronet, 4th of Ury between 1941 and 1974, was a Scottish peer and nobleman. BiographyKeith was son of John Baird, 1st Viscount Stonehaven, and wife Ethel Sydney Keith-Falconer, 11th Countess of Kintore. Born James Ian Baird, he changed his name from Baird to Keith by Interlocutor of the Lyon Court on 28 June 1967. He worked as a labourer in Britain and Canada in his youth. He succeeded his father in the viscountcy of Stonehaven in 1941. During the Second World War, he joined the Royal Marine Engineers and rose to the rank of Major. He lived in South Africa from 1947 to 1952, when he returned to manage the family estate at Rickarton. In 1974, he succeeded his mother as the 12th Earl of Kintore. In 1978, the Chief of Clan Keith and the Commander of Clan Gunn signed a peace treaty at the site of the Chapel of St. Tayrs, ending the feud between the two clans which began in 1478.[1] Marriage and issueLord Kintore married on 5 March 1935 Delia Virginia Loyd (12 September 1915 - 10 January 2007), maternal granddaughter of the 2nd Baron Brabourne of Brabourne. They had three children:[2] - Lady Diana Elizabeth Virginia Sydney Baird (born 22 June 1937); married John Francis Holman of Rickarton, Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) (1924 - 3 February 2015).
- Richard Ian Holman-Baird of Ury and Lochwood (b. 2 September 1958); married firstly, in 1985, Sarah Wood (d. 1987), daughter of Major Robert Wood, of Sycamore House, Glassonby, Penrith, Cumbria, and had one daughter, Louise Sarah Holman (b. 21 December 1986). Married secondly, in 1996, Polly Sophia Thomson, daughter of Angus Thomson, of Ansdell Terrace, London, and had two children, Angus John Holman-Baird (b. 14 January 1997) and Amelia Jo Holman-Baird (b. 29 December 1998).

- Georgina Mary Holman (b. 4 October 1962); married in 1989 Charles Stirrup, son of John Stirrup, of Simonstown, Cape Province, and had issue: William John Stirrup (b. 10 September 1992); Timothy Charles Stirrup (b. 6 June 1994) and Isabelle Diana Stirrup (b. 14 April 1997)
- Emma Charlotte Holman (b. 11 April 1966); married in 1990 Ben Charles Cole, son of Anthony Brian Cole, of Staplecross, Sussex, and had issue: Sophie Charlotte Cole (b. 4 August 1992) and Patrick James Cole (b. 15 March 1994)
- Sir Michael Canning William John Keith of Urie, 13th Earl of Kintore, 13th Lord Keith of Inverurie and Keith Hall, Chief of Clan Keith, 3rd Viscount Stonehaven, 3rd Baron Stonehaven, 4th Baronet, 5th of Ury (22 February 1939 – 30 October 2004); married Mary Plum, daughter of Squadron Leader Elisha Gaddis Plum, who lived at Rumson, Monmouth County, New Jersey, and had one son and one daughter:
- Sir James William Falconer Keith of Urie, 14th Earl of Kintore, 14th Lord Keith of Inverurie and Keith Hall, Chief of Clan Keith, 4th Viscount Stonehaven, 4th Baron Stonehaven, 5th Baronet, 6th of Ury (b. 15 April 1976), married and had one son:
- Tristan Michael Keith, Lord Keith of Inverurie and Keith Hall (b. 2010), heir apparent
- Lady Iona Delia Mary Gaddis Keith (b. 1 January 1978), engaged in March 2007 to Mark Hopkins, younger son of Mrs. Violet Hopkins, of Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire[3][4]
- The Hon. Alexander David Baird (b. 21 April 1946), educated at Tabley House School, Knutsford, Cheshire, and lived in 2003 at 2 Tilquhillie Place, Banchory, Kincardineshire
