释义 |
I. I. Chundrigar Road, formerly McLeod Road, is located in the financial hub of Karachi, Pakistan. It is named after former Pakistani Prime Minister I. I. Chundrigar. As of 2018, the area is zoned as Downtown Karachi on the basis of Socio-Economic cultural heritage of the city by Commissioner Mr. Iftikhar Ali Shallwani. The Karachi financial area is the largest in the country, referred to as "Pakistan's Wall Street".[1][2] In 1963, Habib Bank Plaza was built on this street which remained the tallest building of Pakistan until 2005.[1] In 2007 Sharjah-based Enshaa Holdings in a joint venture with NLC launched Karachi International Financial center on II Chundrigar road which would comprise a hotel, office towers, serviced apartments and a railway station. The Karachi Financial Towers would include two identical 37-storey towers connected by a three-floor glass skybridge. As of 2012, construction has been abandoned because of financial misappropriation and possible embezzlement.[3] See also
