It lies about {{convert|300|m|ft|abbr=off}} from the coast. It is {{convert|253|m|ft|abbr=off}} long and {{convert|165|m|ft|abbr=off}} wide, its shoreline is about {{convert|878|m|ft|abbr=off}} long.[1] It is the only islet near the island of Sal. Baía da Murdeira lies to the southeast of the islet. Further east is the highest point in southern Sal named Rabo de Junco, which has an elevation of {{convert|165|m|ft|abbr=off}}.
