The song spent 6 consecutive weeks on the top of the Norwegian singles chart. All profits from this updated and lyrically changed version will be donated equally to the British Forces Foundation and Help for Heroes charities. This charted at no. 31 in the UK Singles charts upon its release. The lyrics were changed to a pro-war version. In 2012, Sabaton released a cover under the same title as a bonus track for their 8th album, The Last Stand. In 2017, the German Eurodance band Captain Jack released a cover single entitled "In the Army Now 2017" accompanied by an official music video.[10] The song has also been adapted for a musical based on the film An Officer and a Gentleman, which has changed the title and chorus to "In the Navy Now" to fit in with the plot.[11] See also
