They are usually dipped in vinegar or sukang pinakurat (vinegar with onions, peppers, and other spices). They are usually sold by vendors on street corners during the afternoons. While popular throughout the Philippines, isaw has taken on an iconic status as a campus staple at the University of the Philippines Diliman.[2] The UP Isawan (an isaw stall) is used as a regular setting for comic book artist Manix Abrera's daily KikoMachine comic strip in the Philippine Daily Inquirer.[3][4][5] See also
