Jerry Layne (1938 - 2018)[1] was the ventriloquist host of Puppet People, a TV series produced from 1973 to 1975 at CFCF-TV in Montreal and telecast on most CTV television network stations. He worked with his "friends" Lester and Herbie, puppets created for the show. Layne grew up in Brooklyn, NY during a time when ventriloquist acts were popular entertainment in theaters and clubs. He became interested in ventriloquism as a child and by age 14 was a student of ventriloquist Paul Winchell.[2] He went on to work in television production and eventually became a full-time ventriloquist performing on cruise ships and other entertainment venues. He also became known as builder of ventriloquist dummies.[3] References1. ^{{Cite web|url=https://www.facebook.com/ventconvention/photos/a.266375896815.150448.196943761815/10155369839001816/?type=3&permPage=1|title=Vent ConVENTion|website=www.facebook.com|language=en|access-date=2018-06-29}} 2. ^{{Cite news|url=https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/lifestyle/1993/07/25/the-dummys-curse/0d020a8c-cc94-4401-8079-323f4731225f/|title=THE DUMMY'S CURSE|last=Mills|first=David|date=1993-07-25|work=Washington Post|access-date=2018-06-29|language=en-US|issn=0190-8286}} 3. ^{{Cite news|url=http://www.ventriloquist.org/wp/figuremaker/jerry-layne/|title=Jerry Layne - Cybervent, Website for Ventriloquists|work=Cybervent, Website for Ventriloquists|access-date=2018-06-29|language=en-US}} External links
