As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 3,287 and an area of {{convert|102.5|km2|mi2}}.[1] Jerzu is known for the production of a particular type of wine, called Cannonau di Jerzu. Jerzu borders the following municipalities: Arzana, Cardedu, Gairo, Lanusei, Osini, Tertenia, Ulassai, Villaputzu.
