Johann Forster Forsterus, Förster or Forstheim (10 July 1496, in Augsburg - 7 December 1558, in Wittenberg) was a Lutheran theologian, Protestant reformer and professor of Hebrew. He took part in the Protestation at Speyer. Johann-Forster studied Hebrew at the University of Ingolstadt under Johannes Reuchlin (1455 - 1522) and continued his studies at the University of Leipzig and the University of Wittenberg. He was mentored by Martin Luther and helped him with the translation of the bible into German, being especially useful because of his knowledge of Hebrew.[1] References1. ^{{cite book|author=Hendel, Kurt K. |title=Johannes Bugenhagen: Selected Writings, Volume 1 and Volume II|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=C2HDCAAAQBAJ&pg=PT242 |year=2015|publisher=Augsburg Fortress, Publishers |isbn=978-1-4514-6978-3 |page=242}} extensive article at de:Johann Forster{{Authority control}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Forster, Johann}}{{Germany-linguist-stub}}{{Germany-theologian-stub}} 5 : 1496 births|1558 deaths|German Lutheran theologians|People from Augsburg|German male non-fiction writers |
