}} John Kourakos is an American businessman. Early lifeKourakos was born in Manhattan, and raised in the Bronx. His mother was a school aide and his father owned a shoe-repair shop. He started at Rockland Community College, and transferred to the University at Albany in 1969, graduating with a B.S. in Business in 1971. Careerhe first worked at Van Heusen as an assistant merchandising manager. He later moved to Salant and Salant as a merchandising manager. In 1980 he became vice president of sales for Ralph Lauren womenswear. In 1984 was appointed executive VP of merchandising for Calvin Klein menswear. A few years later, from 1987 to 1994 he was president of the underwear, sportswear, and jeans divisions of Calvin Klein Industries.
