CareerCarus was born in Leipzig. He served as curator of the Museum of Comparative Anatomy at Oxford University from 1849 to 1851, and as professor of comparative anatomy and director of the Zoological Museum at the University of Leipzig in 1853.[1] Carus was an early supporter of Darwinism. With Charles Darwin's approval he became his German translator. In 1875, Carus issued a German edition of Darwin's collected works.[2] Bibliography (incomplete) - 1849.
