It is named after a hill called Kaiserstuhl which is located to its immediate west in the suburb of Pewsey Vale.[2][5][4][7] As of 2016, it covered an area of {{convert|4.35|km2}}.[3] The conservation park is classified as an IUCN Category III protected area.[1] In 1980, it was listed on the now-defunct Register of the National Estate.[8] KaiserstuhlKaiserstuhl (literally "emperor's chair") is a mountain of about {{convert|600|m}} height located in a part of the Mount Crawford Forest in the locality of Pewsey Vale. It was named by geologist Joseph Menge after the Kaiserstuhl mountain range near Freiburg in southwestern Germany, a famous winegrowing region. It is dual-named with the Aboriginal name Patpoori. The German name was changed to Mount Kitchener in 1918, but has since been changed back.[9] References1. ^1 2 {{cite web|title= Terrestrial Protected Areas of South Australia (refer 'DETAIL' tab ) |url= http://www.environment.gov.au/system/files/pages/761994ab-42cc-4f24-952c-c21221861884/files/capad2016sa.xlsx |work=CAPAD 2016|publisher=Australian Government, Department of the Environment (DoE) |accessdate=21 February 2018 |date=2016}} 2. ^1 2 3 4 {{cite web|title= Search results for 'Kaiserstuhl Conservation Park' with the following datasets selected – 'Suburbs and Localities', 'NPW and Conservation Properties', 'Gazetteer', 'Roads' and 'Recreation Trails' |url=http://location.sa.gov.au/viewer/?map=roads&x=139.07504&y=-34.59671&z=13&uids=41,19,105,136,97&pinx=139.012590&piny=-34.585040&pinTitle=Location&pinText=Kaiserstuhl+Conservation+Park,+Park |website=Location SA Map Viewer |publisher=Government of South Australian Government |accessdate=9 May 2018}} 3. ^1 {{cite web|title=Protected Areas Information System Reserve List |url=http://www.environment.sa.gov.au/files/sharedassets/public/park_management/protected-areas-reserve-list-march2018-gen.pdf |publisher=Government of South Australia |accessdate=26 April 2018 |date=9 March 2018 }} 4. ^1 2 {{cite web|last1=Cornwall|first1=J.R.|title=NATIONAL PARKS AND WILDLIFE ACT, 1972-1978: HUNDRED OF MOOROOROO—CONSERVATION PARK CONSTITUTED|url=http://www8.austlii.edu.au/au/other/sa_gazette/1979/21/1313.pdf|website=The South Australian Government Gazette|publisher=South Australian Government|accessdate=9 May 2018|page=1313|date=3 May 1979}} 5. ^1 2 3 {{Citation | author1= | title=Management plan : Kaiserstuhl Conservation Park | publication-date=2006 | publisher= Department for Environment and Heritage, South Australia |url= http://www.environment.sa.gov.au/files/sharedassets/public/park_management/parks_pdfs_kaiserstuhl_cp_mp.pdf |pages = 1, 3 & 21 | isbn=978-1-921018-88-6 }} 6. ^{{cite web|title= Section 18: Pewsey Vale to Tanunda |url= https://heysentrail.asn.au/heysen-trail/sections/pewsey-vale-to-tanunda/ |website=The Heysen Trail|publisher=The Friends of the Heysen Trail and Other Walking Trails Inc |accessdate=10 May 2018}} 7. ^1 {{cite web|last1=Abbott|first1=R.K.|title=NATIONAL PARKS AND WILDLIFE ACT, 1972, SECTION 30: KAISERSTUHL CONSERVATION PARK—ALTERATION OF BOUNDARIES |url=http://www8.austlii.edu.au/au/other/sa_gazette/1987/76/1732.pdf |website=The South Australian Government Gazette|publisher=South Australian Government|accessdate=10 May 2018|page=1732 |date=3 December 1987}} 8. ^{{cite AHD|7018| Kaiser Stuhl Conservation Park – listing on the now-defunct Register of the National Estate |date= 21 October 1980 |accessdate=9 May 2018}} 9. ^{{cite web |url=http://maps.sa.gov.au/plb/ |work=Property Location Browser |id=SA0033466 |title=Placename Details: Kaiserstuhl |publisher=Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure |accessdate=27 November 2014}} External links
