It is the administrative center of Kamalia Tehsil.[1] Khaddar cloth of international standard is manufactured here.It is the second biggest producer of poultary in Pakistan after Chakwal. It has a zoo managed by Local Government, a sugar mill which was once the biggest sugar mill of South Asia;capable of producing electricity enough for the City and it is well known for Okra production and its export to Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Peshawar and even to Afghanisyant:Kabul. It owns a stadium and separate libraries for Men and Women.
