It contains an area of {{convert|25667|km2|abbr=on}}. According to the 2011 census it has a population of 577,000 and according to the statistics 98,1% of them are Uyghur ethnic groups. GeographyKarakax county is located northern edge of Karakurum mountains and southern part of Tarim basin, the Karakax river separate it from the Hotan county, northern parts connects to the Awat county of Aksu prefecture and western parts connect to the Guma county, the length from south to north is {{convert|320|km|abbr=on}} and width from east to width is {{convert|51|km|abbr=on}}.
