CareerBorn in the shadow of Arsenal F.C Highbury Stadium, Murray's footballing career began with Shrewsbury Town after becoming one of the first protégés of the youth team set-up. He was bought in by former Shrews' man Jake King, which has since produced Joe Hart. Murray was primarily a midfielder in his time but also was able to offer cover at centreback, and while it seemed Murray was something of a 'jack of all trades' in many eyes, he was the master of none, with various players having the edge on him, which saw him relegated to the bench. By 2002, Shrewsbury Town had been relegated, and he found himself sent out on loan to Northwich Victoria, the former club of then manager Jimmy Quinn. Several loans later, Murray was released and returned to his native south. Murray was signed by Grays Athletic from Woking on 18 May 2007.[1] Lasting just nine months at Grays, he was released on 14 February 2008.[2] He spent the rest of the season with Eastleigh signing and 18-month contract.[3] At the start of the 2008–09 season, Murray signed for Bromley.[4] On 12 November, he signed for Ebbsfleet United on a short-term loan deal.[5] In January 2009, Murray was signed on loan by Northwich Victoria,[6] and made his debut in the 2–1 home league defeat against Histon. He returned to Bromley in February 2009.[7] In late 2009 after a spell with Croydon Athletic, Murray was signed by Isthmian League club Carshalton Athletic. In September 2010, he moved to neighbours Sutton United and helped them to win the Isthmian League Premier Division title for the 2010–11 season.[8] Murray left Sutton in December 2011, citing personal reasons for his departure.[9] On 20 February 2012, it was announced Murray had signed for Isthmian League Division One South club Maidstone United.[10] He made his debut a day later, coming on as a substitute in a 4–2 away win at Merstham.[11] Murray left the Stones in the summer of 2012.
