In France, it was released as Monsieur Ripois (the title of the original novel by Louis Hémon). In the United States, it was originally released as Lovers, Happy Lovers!, then later re-released as Lover Boy. The film, which was a French-British co-production, stars Gérard Philipe in the title role, and was directed by René Clément. The film was entered into the 1954 Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Special Jury Prize.[3] Cast
