Since 1986 this species has been considered extinct by the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.[1] However, recently collected specimens of this species were described in 2006.[3] The ongoing existence of the species was confirmed in 2012.[4] See also{{stack|{{Portal|Tasmania|Environment}}}}
