It is located in Laurel, Mississippi (USA). The school offers a Christian-based classical education that is built on the time-honored trivium: grammar, logic, and rhetoric. Each subject taught at the school is taught within the framework of a Christian worldview. ChurchesLaurel Christian High School is spread across three different churches in Laurel. Covenant Presbyterian Church (PCA) hosts the kindergarten, Audubon Drive Bible Church (FIRE) hosts the elementary, and Westminster Presbyterian Church (EPC) hosts the high school. Statement of ControlLaurel Christian School is sponsored by Audubon Drive Bible Church and Westminster Presbyterian Church; their goal is to provide the community with the option of a Christ-centered education. The Rick Bartley ScandalRick Bartley was the headmaster of LCS from 1999 to 2013. Shortly after he had accepted a new position as headmaster for another school (Westminster Christian Academy in Huntsville, AL)[1] certain accounting irregularities were discovered in LCS's finances. An investigation revealed that Bartley had embezzled at least $58,000 from the school. He was indicted for this crime and plead guilty. His sentencing required no time in prison and only required him to pay $12,000 back to the school.[2] Clubs
In 2009, the Laurel Christian Drama Club won 1st place on both the regional and state levels with their production of "All In the Timing." The team also received a "Top 5" ranking at the Southeastern Theatre Conference. The team also won Best Strike and Best Crew. The Laurel Christian School Speech and Debate Team is ranked 5th in the state in terms of size, and ranked 3rd in the state in terms of new NFL degrees. In 2007, 8th grader Abdi Martinez won 1st place on both state and regional levels in French 1 in the Mississippi Private School Association competition hosted in Jackson, MS. And in 2009 as a freshman, he won 1st place on both the regional and state levels in Spanish 1 again in the MPSA. Students from Laurel Christian High School have often routinely taken first place at both a district and state level in the Academic Betterment Competition, and five students from Laurel Christian have been recognized as National Merit or Merit Scholars. In October 2010, the Lady Lions Soccer Team won the Division II State Championship defeating the incumbent and rival Lamar School from Meridian, MS. This was the school's third Women's State Championship. In February 2011, the Men's Varsity soccer team won the A-AA State Championship by beating rival Central Hinds Academy in Raymond, MS. This was the school's first Men's State Championship. Goals were Scored by Senior Dean Pace and Freshman Alex Hinton.
