}}Left, Right, & Center is a weekly hour-long public radio program that provides a "civilized yet provocative antidote to the screaming talking heads that dominate political debate".[1] The program is also distributed as a political podcast.[2] The show's regular co-hosts are the following:[1]
  • Josh Barro, senior editor at Business Insider, represents the center, and is the moderator.[3] Until January 2015, Matthew Miller, senior fellow at the progressive Center for American Progress represented the center as moderator.[4]
  • Rich Lowry, editor of the conservative National Review, represents the right. Until his death in 2012, Tony Blankley, editorial page editor of The Washington Times represented the right.
  • The left is represented by a variety of guest hosts. This role was formerly filled by Robert Scheer.
  • Formerly, Arianna Huffington was also a regular member of the panel.[5]

After Blankley's death, various conservative writers and pundits have appeared as guests to represent a conservative viewpoint. Conservative columnist David Frum has made numerous appearances to fill this role,[6] and Rich Lowry from the conservative National Review is now billed as co-host on the right.

The show is recorded each Friday, produced by KCRW in Santa Monica, California[1] by Laura Dine Million, although hosts typically contribute over ISDN telephone lines from wherever they happen to be.

After covering the week's events and speaking to invited guests about other topics of interest, each host gets a short period of time to "rant" about whatever they like without fear of rebuttal.

Effective with the broadcast of Friday, July 7, 2017, the show expanded from a half-hour to a full hour.

Coincident with that expansion, the show's long-time theme music - "Let's Call the Whole Thing Off", sung by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong - was replaced by a new instrumental theme.
