It was disbanded in 1967. Its lineage is maintained by the E (Leicestershire and Derbyshire Yeomanry) Squadron of the Royal Yeomanry. HistoryThe regiment was formed by the amalgamation of the Leicestershire Yeomanry and the Derbyshire Yeomanry in 1957.[1] The regiment was re-roled as infantry in 1967, with four squadrons.[1] In 1969 it was reduced to a cadre.[1] The cadre paraded its Guidon at Catterick Garrison later that year and was expanded to squadron strength as the Leicestershire and Derbyshire (Prince Albert's Own) Yeomanry Squadron, 7th Battalion, the Royal Anglian Regiment in 1971.[1] The squadron was re-designated a company in 1975 and the company was split into two parts in 1978:[1]
Theses units were re-designated respectively in 1992:[1]
The Royal Anglian company converted to become 158th (Royal Anglian) Transport Regiment of the Royal Logistic Corps in 1996, and ceased to maintain its yeomanry lineage.[1] Meanwhile B (Leicestershire and Derbyshire Yeomanry) Squadron, The Royal Yeomanry was re-designated E (Leicestershire and Derbyshire Yeomanry) Squadron, The Royal Yeomanry in June 2015.[2] It now uses the Land Rover RWMIK and operates in a light armoured reconnaissance role.[3] References1. ^1 2 3 4 5 6 {{cite web|url=http://www.regiments.org/regiments/uk/volmil-england/vcav/leicderb.htm|title=The Leicestershire and Derbyshire (Prince Albert's Own) Yeomanry|publisher=Regiments.org|accessdate=28 October 2017|deadurl=yes|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20071014173455/http://www.regiments.org/regiments/uk/volmil-england/vcav/leicderb.htm|archivedate=14 October 2007|df=dmy-all}} 2. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.army.mod.uk/armoured/regiments/34090.aspx|title=Leicestershire and Derbyshire Yeomanry|publisher=Ministry of Defence|accessdate=28 October 2017}} 3. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.army.mod.uk/documents/general/Army2020_Report.pdf|title=Transforming the British Army: an update|publisher=Ministry of Defence|date=10 June 2014|accessdate=28 October 2017|deadurl=yes|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20140610215557/http://www.army.mod.uk/documents/general/Army2020_Report.pdf|archivedate=10 June 2014|df=dmy-all}} 4 : Yeomanry regiments of the British Army|Military units and formations established in 1957|Military units and formations in Leicestershire|Military units and formations in Derbyshire |
