Directed by Rodman Flender, the film centers on a sadistically evil leprechaun (Warwick Davis) hunting for a bride. With the exception of the villain, characters from the first film are not seen nor mentioned in the film. PlotIn 1994, the Leprechaun seeks out a new bride in modern-day Los Angeles, one thousand years after an earlier attempt to claim a bride was foiled. Claiming a fussy teenage girl named Bridget (Shevonne Durkin), the descendant of his original choice of a wife, the Leprechaun holds her captive in his lair and terrorizes her boyfriend Cody (Charlie Heath), who had taken one of his gold coins. In the end Cody saves Bridget and defeats the Leprechaun by impaling him with a spike made of wrought iron, one of the few substances that can harm a Leprechaun.[1] Cast
ReleaseIn its opening weekend, the film opened in 252 theaters and grossed $672,775. In the United States, the film's box office totaled $2.3 million.[2] ReceptionLeprechaun 2 holds an approval rating of 0% on review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes based on sixteen reviews.[3] Kevin Thomas of the Los Angeles Times wrote that it has better writing, production values, acting, and humor than the original.[4] TV Guide wrote that the film is an improvement over its predecessor, though "cynically contrived even by schlock horror standards."[5] Marc Savlov of The Austin Chronicle stated that the film is a complete rehash of the original.[6] Discussing the rationale for a Leprechaun sequel with Fangoria, Warwick Davis said, "Money's definitely the answer", alluding to a pay increase for his role as the titular villain,[7]References1. ^{{cite video|people = Rodman Flender (Director)|title = Leprechaun 2|medium = DVD|location = United States|publisher = Trimark Pictures|date = 1994}} 2. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=leprechaun2.htm|title=Leprechaun 2|last=|first=|date=|work=Box Office Mojo|publisher=IMDb|archive-url=|archive-date=|dead-url=|accessdate=April 21, 2017}} 3. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/leprechaun_2/|title=Leprechaun 2 - Rotten Tomatoes|last=|first=|date=|work=Rotten Tomatoes|publisher=Fandango|archive-url=|archive-date=|dead-url=|accessdate=August 6, 2018}} 4. ^{{cite news|url=http://articles.latimes.com/1994-04-11/entertainment/ca-44632_1_leprechaun-movie-baron|title=MOVIE REVIEW : Faith and Be Gory, 'Leprechaun 2' Better Than the First|last=Thomas|first=Kevin|work=Los Angeles Times|date=April 11, 1994|accessdate=April 21, 2017}} 5. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.tvguide.com/movies/leprechaun-2/review/129786/|title=Leprechaun 2|work=TV Guide|accessdate=April 21, 2017}} 6. ^{{cite news|url=http://www.austinchronicle.com/calendar/film/1994-05-27/leprechaun-2/|title=Leprechaun 2|last=Savlov|first=Marc|work=The Austin Chronicle|date=May 27, 1994|accessdate=April 21, 2017}} 7. ^{{Cite journal|last=Shapiro|first=Marc|date=April 1994|title=Leprechaun 2 Flender's Fortune|url=https://archive.org/details/Fangoria_131_c2c_1994_wolf_hqs/page/n57|journal=Fangoria|volume=|issue=131|pages=58-61|via=Internet Archive}} External links
