He was selected by the Bulldogs in the 3rd round of the 1999 National AFL Draft with pick 43 after playing for the Eastern Ranges in the TAC Cup.[1] He retired after the 2012 season. Gilbee currently serves as a development coach at the St Kilda Football Club.[2] Known as one of the best kicks in the AFL,[3] Gilbee rejected offers to trial in the United States to become an American football punter.[4] Recently, Gilbee has come out of retirement, transferring to the Old Melburnians Football Club 3rds team. With 7 inside 50's and 2.2 in his first game for the club Gilbee was named best on ground.
