}}Lithodoras dorsalis, the Rock-bacu, is the only species in the genus Lithodoras of the catfish (order Siluriformes) family Doradidae.[1] This species originates from the Amazon basin in Brazil and estuaries near Cayenne, French Guiana.[2] These fish feed on the leaves of macrophytes. When the forests are flooded, they feed exclusively on fruits and seeds, acting as an agent of seed dispersal.[2] Reproduction occurs once a year and juveniles are often seen in large numbers in the estuary of the Amazon.[2] These fish reach a length of {{convert|100|cm|in}} TL and a weight of up to {{convert|15|kg|lb}}.[3] References1. ^{{ITIS |id=681254 |taxon=Lithodoras dorsalis |accessdate=May 22, 2007}} {{Taxonbar|from=Q3767324}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Lithodoras Dorsalis}}{{Doradidae-stub}}2. ^{{cite journal|title=Seed Dispersal in Flood Plain Forests of Amazonia|first=Klaus|last=Kubitzki|author2=Ziburski, Albrecht |journal=Biotropica|year=1994|volume=26|issue=1|pages=30–43|doi=10.2307/2389108|publisher=The Association for Tropical Biology and Conservation|jstor=2389108}} 3. ^1 2 {{FishBase|genus=Lithodoras|species=dorsalis|year=2011|month=December}} 6 : Doradidae|Fish of South America|Fish of Brazil|Fauna of the Amazon|Taxa named by Achille Valenciennes|Fish described in 1840 |
