It is endemic to Mexico and found in the Pacific coastal plains between central Sonora and Nayarit.[1][2] The specific name honors Remington Kellogg, who was an American zoologist and a director of the United States National Museum.[3] The species' natural habitats are thorn forests and tropical deciduous forests on coastal open lowlands to {{convert|200|m|abbr=on}} above sea level. It is tolerant to human disturbance and can breed in artificial water bodies such as dams.[1] References1. ^1 2 {{cite journal | authors = Santos-Barrera, G. & Canseco-Márquez, L. | title = Anaxyrus kelloggi | journal = IUCN Red List of Threatened Species | volume= 2004 | page = e.T54680A11172485 | year = 2004 | doi = 10.2305/IUCN.UK.2004.RLTS.T54680A11172485.en }} {{Taxonbar|from=Q28031469}}{{Bufonidae-stub}}2. ^{{cite web |url=http://research.amnh.org/vz/herpetology/amphibia/Amphibia/Anura/Bufonidae/Anaxyrus/Anaxyrus-kelloggi |title=Anaxyrus kelloggi (Taylor, 1938) |author=Frost, Darrel R. |year=2016 |work=Amphibian Species of the World: an Online Reference.
