LOL (stylized as LOL <(^^,)>, LOL from Laughing out Loud[1], <(^^,)> means Satisfied[2]) is the second studio album by the Swedish dance producer Basshunter. The album was released on 28 August 2006, through Warner Music Sweden and Ultra Records. A Christmas/International edition was released on 22 December 2006, with the same Swedish songs from the original album, but with English translated names, in a slightly different track order, and with bonus tracks, including the never-before-released "Jingle Bells". The song "Sverige" has been omitted from the international edition. "DotA" is the second version of the song.

Background

On 21 November 2005 Basshunter announced that he is working on new album and to this time he completed ten songs.[3] In December he announced that his single "Welcome to Rainbow" is coming soon,[4] which ultimately was released on 1 April 2006 as extended play. It included theme song "Welcome to Rainbow", hardstyle remix and two bonus tracks "Evil Beat" and "Boten Anna".[5] He rercorded "Boten Anna" during the one of the March nights and published it to his internet website to download.[6] Later in april he signed to Extensive Music[7] and Warner Music Sweden[8] and "Boten Anna" was released on 9 May.[9]

Matthew Chisling from AllMusic said that LOL brought Basshunter his best beats and grinds.[10] Håkan Steen from Aftonbladet said that this album is for people who lead the same lifestyle as Basshunter, using social media website LunarStorm, online chat and playing computer games online. He considered "Festfolk" as the best song.[11] Stefan Thungren from Svenska Dagbladet acknowledged that intentional inadequate execution was felt in the material. He also stated that the sophisticated and difficult shout in the song "Festfolk" is inspired by the musician E-Type. "Strand Tylösand" was compared by Thungren to the summer hits of the band Gyllene Tider. He negatively referred to the trance adaptation of the Swedish national anthem "Sverige". In the summary he pointed out that the instrumental version of the song "Boten Anna" contains a few melancholic moments.[12]
