It was released in 1988 on Mercury Records. BackgroundWith Long Cold Winter, Cinderella started to move away from the glam metal music of their previous album and into a more blues rock-oriented direction, akin to early 1970s Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Humble Pie, Bad Company, and Deep Purple.[1][2] The record reached No. 10 in the US and became double-platinum for shipping 2 million copies in the US by the end of the year, just as their debut album Night Songs had done earlier. It was later certified triple platinum.{{Certification Cite Ref|title=Long Cold Winter|artist=Cinderella|type=album|region=United States}} Reception{{Album ratings| rev1 = AllMusic | rev1Score = {{Rating|4|5}}[1] | rev2 = Classic Rock | rev2Score = {{Rating|8|10}}[2] | rev3 =Collector's Guide to Heavy Metal | rev3Score = 5/10[3] | rev4 = Kerrang! | rev4Score = {{Rating|2.5|5}}[4] | rev5 = Rock Hard | rev5score = 8.5/10[5] | rev6 = Rolling Stone | rev6Score = {{Rating|2|5}}[6] |noprose = yes }} In 2005, Long Cold Winter was ranked number 457 in Rock Hard magazine's book of The 500 Greatest Rock & Metal Albums of All Time.[7] SinglesThe album features four singles, which all charted in the US.
