Marucci Sports is an American manufacturer of products and apparel for the baseball and softball markets that was originally founded as Marucci Bat Company in 2004 by former MLB first round picks Kurt Ainsworth (Pitcher for the San Francisco Giants) and Joe Lawrence (Catcher/OF for Toronto Blue Jays) and LSU athletic trainer Jack Marucci. Marucci Bat Company became Marucci Sports in 2009, and the founders then brought on former White House Assistant Press Secretary, Reed Dickens. He was the first CEO from 2009 to 2012. Co-Founder, Kurt Ainsworth has been the CEO since 2013.[1] Fast forward to the present and what started as a backyard hobby has now turned into an All-American success story as Marucci has become the fastest-growing brand in baseball and the No. 1 bat in the Big Leagues.{{Infobox company

History

The founders began handcrafting wood bats for local kids and some of the best players in the Big Leagues from a small backyard shed. With an unparalleled attention to detail and the commitment to deliver players with the products they want and need to be successful, Marucci bats became a symbol of perfection to Big League hitters.

In 2009, with the same principals and core values that defined Marucci Bat Company, Dickens joined Ainsworth and Lawrence in the founding of Marucci Sports to extend Marucci’s brand and product offering outside of wood bats. Having attracted top talent from Louisiana and across the nation, the company has successfully expanded its product offering to include aluminum and composite bats, batting gloves, fielding gloves, bags, uniforms, protective gear, sunglasses, lifestyle apparel, and accessories.

The company has also demonstrated its philanthropic nature by starting a foundation: Marucci Cares. Founded on lessons learned from the game of baseball, Marucci Cares, a 501c3 organization, is dedicated to partnering with the baseball community to help those in need and increase participation in youth sports. Through its foundation, Marucci and its stakeholders have been seen in the community helping and supporting flood victims, supporting law enforcement with product donations to make their jobs easier, and through the support of various local and nationwide charities serving other important causes.

As of 2013, Marucci bats are used by one-third of Major League Baseball players, notable veterans like David Ortiz,[3] José Bautista,[3], Albert Pujols,[3] and Chase Utley,[4] and young stars like Anthony Rizzo, Giancarlo Stanton, and Brycer Harper.

In a relatively short period of time, Marucci has taken a large share of the baseball bat market from longtime industry leader Louisville Slugger, with industry tracking publications validating #1 bat in the majors since 2013 by a wide margin.[2][3]

Unlike other apparel and equipment manufacturers, instead of sponsoring athletes, Marucci has brought in players as company owners and advisers to product development. Notable members of the Advisory Board include Albert Pujols, David Ortiz, Buster Posey, and Andrew McCutchen.
