The dam forming the reservoir connects the communities of McIndoe Falls, Vermont and Monroe, New Hampshire. When the roadway re-opens, the Monroe Road will again connect to the Frazier Road, linking U.S. Highway 5 in Vermont with NH Route 135. Until then, the nearest river crossing is a bridge, carrying the Barnet Road, {{Convert|1.4|mi|km}} north. McIndoes Falls Dam creating the reservoir was built in 1931 as a project of the New England Electric System, along with the nearby Frank D. Comerford Dam.[1] McIndoes' power plant has a capacity of 11 megawatts. Both dams are now owned and operated by TransCanada Corporation.[2]See also
