Mickey Beyer-Clausen (April 3, 1975 in Copenhagen) is a Danish-born, serial entrepreneur and philanthropist, based in New York.

Mickey Beyer-Clausen was one of the first Internet pioneers and today he is building companies around innovations that have the potential to improve the human or planetary condition.[1] He is the founder/co-founder of several technology businesses such as Internet Payment Systems (1997), Speednames (1999), Afilias (2000), Ascio Technologies (2001), Trunk Archive (2004)[2], Mental Workout (2009), and Timeshifter (2017). In addition, he is the founder of Happiness Foundation, which supports multiple charitable organizations worldwide with strategic pro bono consultancy rather than money (2002).

Personal

Mickey Beyer-Clausen is married to Allison Beyer-Clausen (2006) and lives in Southampton, New York with their two children, Anna and Oliver.

Philanthropy

In 2002, Beyer-Clausen formed a foundation called the Happiness Foundation, which supports several international nonprofits with strategic pro bono consultancy. He is recruiting business leaders, management consultants, and experts to volunteer their knowledge to existing nonprofits, accelerating their impact. His foundation was recognized at the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year (2002) because of its innovative approach providing an alternative to traditional philanthropy.[3] Amongst other projects, Happiness Foundation launched a partnership with UNHCR to build 'Happiness Tents' in refugee camps[4]

Notable awards

  • Speednames received the Reboot Jury's Grand Prix in 2000
  • Speednames was nominated for three Reboot awards for best strategy, best e-commerce, and best technical solution (2001)[5]
  • Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year: Honorable participation for the Happiness Foundation (2002)
  • Flying Without Fear iPhone app shortlisted for Conde Nast Traveller's Innovation/Design Award alongside Twitter and the iPad (2010)

Education

  • Degree in Economics and Management (HHX) from Niels Brock, Julius Thompsens Plads, Denmark (1994)
  • Young Managers Programme at INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France (2001)
  • He provided the commencement speech for Niels Brock's graduating classes in 2010[6]
