}}Michael "Mike" Jones (born July 24, 1984) is an American basketball player who played for the University of Maryland, College Park. He went to high school at Thayer Academy in Braintree, Massachusetts.[1] Due to his success there, he was invited to the McDonald's All-American Game. According to Joe Benson's recruiting website Scout.com, he was the second best shooting guard in the country coming out of high school, behind LeBron James.[2] On December 13, 2006, Jones earned sole possession of the all-time University of Maryland record by making nine 3-pointers in a game.[3] He was originally projected to be a late 2nd round pick in the NBA Draft.
