Mohammad Khaksar (died {{Death date|2006|01|14|df=yes}}) was an Afghan Taliban intelligence chief and deputy Minister of the Interior. Reportedly, Khaksar was unhappy with al-Qaeda influence in the Taliban, and so agreed to serve as a mole for the United States in 1999.[1]

Khaksar was assassinated by two motorcycle gunmen on 14 January 2006, possibly by elements of al Qaeda. The Taliban took credit for the slaying.

The current President of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai, denounced the assassination; he said, "Their purpose of disturbing the peace process is not only to shed the blood of innocent people but even their own former supporters, which is both against the sacred religion of Islam and humanity.".[2]
