The 2000 census found 2,617 people in the township, 941 of whom lived in the unincorporated portions of the township.[3] GeographyLocated in the central part of the county, it borders the following townships:
Much of Morgan Township is occupied by McConnelsville, the county seat and largest village of Morgan County. Name and historyIt is one of six Morgan Townships statewide.[4] GovernmentThe township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1. Two are elected in the year after the presidential election and one is elected in the year before it. There is also an elected township fiscal officer,[5] who serves a four-year term beginning on April 1 of the year after the election, which is held in November of the year before the presidential election. Vacancies in the fiscal officership or on the board of trustees are filled by the remaining trustees. As of 2007, the trustees are Rodney Hanson, Ancil King, and Darel Kuntz, and the clerk is Barbara Bucey.[6] References1. ^1 {{cite web|url=http://geonames.usgs.gov|accessdate=2008-01-31|title=US Board on Geographic Names|publisher=United States Geological Survey|date=2007-10-25}} 2. ^{{cite web|url=http://factfinder2.census.gov|publisher=United States Census Bureau|accessdate=2008-01-31|title=American FactFinder}} 3. ^Morgan County, Ohio — Population by Places Estimates{{dead link|date=February 2018 |bot=InternetArchiveBot |fix-attempted=yes }} Ohio State University, 2007.
