释义 |
Mounthill is a small village in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, near Larne. In the 2011 Census, it had a population of 114 people.[1] It is situated in the Larne Borough Council area. Mounthill Fair, which takes place in October each year, is predominantly a horse fair (with shire horses dominating). The fair is nearly 300 years old and is said to have begun with a Charter from King James of England.[2] PeopleThe grandfather of Andrew Johnson, 17th President of the United States, left Mounthill around 1750 and settled in North Carolina. Andrew worked there as a tailor and ran a successful business in Greeneville, Tennessee, before being elected Vice-President. He became President following Abraham Lincoln's assassination.
