In 2011, it had 2,828 inhabitants. The commune Hungarian name means "fowler", the Romanian name derives from that as well. It is composed of four villages: Homorog (Oláhhomorog), Ianoșda (Jánosd), Marțihaz (Marciháza) and Mădăras.
