Playing careerHone made his debut for Ireland in August 1868, playing against I Zingari. He was bowled for a duck in the only Irish innings, and bowled for the only time in his international career, taking 1/20 in the second innings.[2] He would not play again for Ireland for almost ten years, making his return in August 1878, again playing against I Zingari. He played four times for Ireland in 1879, against the MCC and Surrey before touring North America, playing two matches against Philadelphia. He scored 87 against the MCC, his only half-century for Ireland. He played three more times for Ireland, his final game being against Philadelphia in June 1884.[2] StatisticsIn all matches for Ireland, he scored 171 runs at an average of 14.25. He took one wicket at an average of 28.00.[2] FamilyHone came from a cricketing family. His brother William played for Ireland, as did another brother Leland, who also played Test cricket for England.
