词条 | Nathaniel Hone (cricketer, born 1861) |
释义 |
Born in Monkstown, County Dublin and educated in Dublin and at Rugby where he was an excellent horse rider and polo player,[3] he went on to attend Trinity Hall, Cambridge.[4] Whilst there, he played three first-class cricket matches in June 1881, playing against Lancashire and the MCC before gaining his blue against Oxford University.[5] However, his life would end in tragic circumstances just five weeks later. Whilst on a cricket tour of Limerick, he was feeling unwell and went into a chemist to ask for a black draught. By mistake, the assistant gave him a dose of carbolic acid and he died in great pain a few hours later.[3] References1. ^Cricket Archive profile {{DEFAULTSORT:Hone, Nathaniel}}{{Ireland-cricket-bio-stub}}2. ^Report of death of Nathaniel Hone, Limerick Chronicle, 2 August 1881 3. ^1 Profile by Don Ambrose at Cricket Archive 4. ^{{acad|id= HN879NT |name=Hone, Nathaniel Thomas}} 5. ^First-class matches played by Nathaniel Hone at Cricket Archive 7 : 1861 births|1881 deaths|Irish cricketers|Alumni of Trinity Hall, Cambridge|Cambridge University cricketers|People from Dublin (city)|Accidental deaths in Ireland |
