As of the 2010 census, its population was 1,292 and it contained 492 housing units.[2] GeographyNewcomb is Township 21 North, Range 7 East of the Third Principal Meridian. According to the 2010 census, the township has a total area of {{convert|36.37|sqmi}}, of which {{convert|36.22|sqmi}} (or 99.59%) is land and {{convert|0.15|sqmi}} (or 0.41%) is water.[2] Illinois Route 47 crosses the township from north to south. Peoples gas holds property easements covering around {{convert|32000|acre|km2|1}} for the storage facility and co-located liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant.
