Produced by David Rubinson in California, it is the band's first and only album produced outside New Orleans. The album features the Oakland-based Tower of Power horn section.[3] ReceptionStephen Erlewine of Allmusic called the music gritty and a move in the right direction as compared to the band's previous album Trick Bag. John Swenson of Rolling Stone said the album "attempts to consolidate the group's style" and noted an overreliance on arrangement rather than the band's musical instinct.[5] Music critique Robert Christgau called the album "a very good commercial funk record."[1]Track listing{{Track listing| all_writing = Art Neville, Ziggy Modeliste, Cyril Neville, Leo Nocentelli and George Porter, Jr.; except as noted | title1 = No More Okey Doke | length1 = 4:20 | title2 = I'm Gone | writer2 = Allen Toussaint | length2 = 4:30 | title3 = Be My Lady | length3 = 6:25 | title4 = My Name up in Lights | length4 = 5:23 | title5 = Funkify Your Life | length5 = 5:40 | title6 = Stop That Train | writer6 = Peter Tosh | length6 = 4:50 | title7 = We Got the Kind of a Love | writer7 = Leo Nocentelli | length7 = 5:20 | title8 = Give It What You Can | writer8 = Carl Marsh, James Tarbutton, Steve Cropper | length8 = 4:34 }}{{Track listing | headline = 2001 digitally remastered CD bonus tracks | title9 = Be My Lady | note9 = Single version | length9 = 3:25 | title10 = All I Do Every Day | note10 = Previously unreleased demo | writer10 = Porter, Modeliste | length10 = 4:57 }} PersonnelCredits adapted from AllMusic.[7]
