Nicholas John Cunliffe-Lister, 3rd Earl of Swinton (born 4 September 1939), styled Nicholas Cunliffe-Lister from 1974 to 2006, is a British peer. The younger grandson of the first Earl, he inherited the title Earl of Swinton on the death of his older brother, the 2nd Earl, on 26 March 2006. Their father, Major Hon. John Yarburgh Cunliffe-Lister, had been killed in action in 1943. FamilyLord Swinton's first wife was the Hon. Elizabeth Susan Whitelaw who was appointed Lord Lieutenant of the East Riding of Yorkshire in July 2005.,[1] the eldest daughter of the 1st Viscount Whitelaw, whom he married in 1966.
