The county inclusion varies and remains overlapped by St. Clair and Talladega making the Birmingham–Hoover–Talladega, AL CSA the largest and most diverse metropolitan area in the region. Anniston-Oxford Metropolitan Area and Gadsden Metropolitan Statistical Area. Sometimes the city of Huntsville, and rarely Auburn, are included, they are usually separated into regions other than Northeast Alabama.
