It lives near the ocean floor[1] on the continental shelf and continental slope {{convert|120|-|350|m|ft|abbr=on}} deep.[2] It reaches a maximum size of {{convert|85.0|cm|in|abbr=on}}. Reproduction is oviparous and eggs are encased in horny shells. It reaches maturity between {{convert|64|-|70|cm|in|abbr=on}} in length.
