The course was designed by professional golfer Jerry Pate and Tom Fazio. Golf Digest rated Old Overton as one of the Best New Private Courses in 1994, and they currently list the club as the third best golf course in the state. Old Overton has played host to a number of tournaments, including the annual Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate Tournament.
