It lies exactly on latitude 11°S. Administratively this island is part of Rote Ndao Regency. It borders the Ashmore and Cartier Islands to the south. FaunaThe island is inhabited by some deer, various bird species and is visited annually by turtles who come to lay their eggs.[2] LegendIt is said in some legends that the island was inhabited in the 17th Century, until all the inhabitants were massacred in a reprisal and their bodies discarded into the lake and its drinking water. From that day the island has been left to itself. Literature
